Granada celebrates 25 years of its International Organ Academy
From 4 to 11 September 2026, Granada once again becomes a meeting place for organ lovers during the 25th edition of the International Organ Academy. Throughout the week, some of the city’s most remarkable churches and historic spaces will host an impressive series of concerts, masterclasses and guided organ visits.
The international line-up brings together Maurizio Croci, Vincent Thévenaz, João Vaz, ECHO Young Organist of the Year 2026 David Kiefer, and Luc Ponet, followed by a festive closing concert with Nadal Roig Serralta, Ensemble La Danserye and the Manuel de Falla Choir. The programmes span five centuries of organ music, from the great Iberian masters and Bach to Franck, Jongen, Flor Peeters, Piazzolla and improvisation.
For ECHO, there is an especially strong connection this year: David Kiefer brings Hispanic and European music from the age of Charles V to the historic setting of Santa Isabel La Real, while Luc Ponet explores “The French-Belgian Connection”, from César Franck to Flor Peeters.
And the celebrations continue beyond the festival week. On 24 October, Granada Cathedral will host an exceptional concert by the legendary Montserrat Torrent. At more than 100 years of age, this extraordinary musician continues to inspire new generations and will perform a programme devoted to the rich Iberian organ tradition.
