MARCUSSEN
Mary's Church Göteborg
Organ details
History
In 1824 Pehr Zacharias Strand built an organ with eleven stops on one manual and pedal for the Mariakyrkan in Göteborg-Stampen. This church had been dedicated on December 10, 1815. The instrument was converted into a two-manual organ in 1877 by the Marcussen & Søn, and expanded to sixteen registers. In 1948 the organ was converted to pneumatics by Magnussons Orgelbyggeri.
In 2012, the Ålems Orgelverkstad company carried out a rebuild with mechanical slider chests. The disposition of the first manual is the same as that of Strand from 1824, while the second manual is constructed according to Marcussen's specification from 1877. The organ was put back into use on 25 March 2012. (orgbase.nl)
