Juan María Pedrero

Born in Zamora (Castile and Leon, Spain) in 1974. After studying piano in his native town, he moved to Barcelona, were he graduated at the Liceo Conservatory with teachers Josep Maria Mas Bonet (organ) and Ramón Coll (piano). He attended a cycle of masterclasses with professor Michael Radulescu on the complete Bach's organ music, and specialised on Iberian music with professor Mas Bonet. In France, he studied with François-Henri Houbart, obtaining a Premier Prix de Perfectionnement at the Orleans Conservatory in 1999. He obtained a scholarship from "la Caixa" Foundation and the French Government allowing him to study during two years in Paris with Marie-Claire Alain.

First prize at the Concours National Inter-Conservatoires de France (Angers 2000), in 2001-02 he was appointed organist in residence at the Sapporo Concert-Hall in Japan. Since then, he performs regularly concerts in Europe, Russia, America (Canada, Cuba, Ecuador, México, Panama) and Asia (Japan and The Philippines). He has performed with orchestras as Sapporo Symphony (Poulenc's Concerto, Widor's Symphony in G minor), Pacific Music Festival, Kosice Philharmonic, Orquesta Ciudad de Granada), with baroque ensembles as Musica Aeterna Bratistlava (concertos by Bach, Handel, C. Ph. E. Bach and J. Haydn), and collaborated with soloists as Hopkinson Smith or Maria Cristina Kiehr. He has made recordings on historical organs in Spain and the Kern organ at Sapporo Concert Hall, as well for radio and television.

Since 2004 he is organ teacher at the Conservatory in Granada. He is also a member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Granada, and artistic director of International Organ Academy which is held every year in September. He obtained a Master degree in Musica Hispana at the Valladolid University. With the musicologist Agueda Pedrero Encabo he collaborated in the edition of the Piezas & Tocatas by the Spanish 18th century organist José Elías. In 2019 he cofounded the International Organ Academy in Castile, where he teaches the Iberian organ music every summer on the relevant ensemble of historical organs around Tordesillas (Valladolid).
