Lukas Arvidsson

Lukas Arvidsson, born in 1984 is an international concert organist, early keyboard musician and folk musician (national folk musician). He studied church music at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg, Sweden, and continued with diploma studies at the Department of Early Music at Hochschule für Künste in Bremen, Germany with professors Harald Vogel, Edoardo Bellotti and Hans Davidsson.

Since 2020 Arvidsson has been organist at the Cahman organ in Lövstabruk (The Pastorate of Tierp, Church of Sweden) and Artistic Director of the Leufsta Cahman Academy. This position is a newly created department responsible for local, national and international activities surrounding the Cahman organ.

He often collaborates with other musicians, dancers and actors to find new ways of expressions. Most commonly linking early music to traditional folk music, with musicians such as nyckelharp player Torbjörn Näsbom and violinist Greger Siljebo, with whom he released a CD with folk and baroque music at the Schiörlin organ in Gammalkil (1801) in 2021. Since 2022 Arvidsson has been one of the continuo players for several projects in the Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble.

Lukas Arvidsson is regularly employed as organ specialist on various projects for new organs and renovations. During his time as master of music in Christ the King Catholic Church in Gothenburg (2003 - 2014) he was project manager for the installation of the English Walker organ (55/III). He is now a member of the reference group for the reconstruction of the Lorentz organ in Holy Trinity Church in Kristianstad.

As a teacher, lecturer and musician, Arvidsson has been invited to the International Organ Academy in Gothenburg, Norddeutsche Orgelakademie, The Royal Danish Academy of Music, Malmö Academy of Music and Organum Histriae. He is represented on video and audio recordings and has appeared on Swedish television and radio.

Arvidsson has been artistic director in ECHO since 2023.
