Kilian Homburg has won the XVI International Gottfried Silbermann Organ Competition. At the final on 9 September 2023 in Freiberg Cathedral, the 23-year-old student from Leipzig won ahead of Ryan Chan (Hong Kong) and Johannes Güdelhöfer (Germany).
In addition to prize money totalling 14,000 euros, the winners receive the opportunity to give concerts on Silbermann organs and other famous historical instruments throughout Germany and beyond. This makes the International Gottfried Silbermann Organ Competition an important institution for promoting young talent.
Five young organists from three countries competed in the final:
