History
Built in 2008, the form concept of the case of the festival organ built by Verschueren Orgelbouw from Heythuysen in the Netherlands takes its inspiration from elements of the Baroque church’s interior. The organ builders have striven to create a visual harmony between the west gallery and the 19 metre-high main altar. The 53 speaking stops are distributed over four divisions: the Oberwerk, the Great, the Rückpositiv and the Pedals.
In collaboration with Verschueren Orgelbouw a standardised instrument was installed modelled after the great Dutch organs of the Baroque period which inherently offer a wide variety of possibilities for performing traditional European organ literature. Traditional materials and skilled, artistic craftsmanship, without the use of modern playing aids, form the basis for this.
