Daniel Beilschmidt

Daniel Beilschmidt, born in Zeulenroda, Thuringia - Germany in 1978 is organist, improviser, teacher and composer. He studied organ with Arvid Gast, Ullrich Böhme, Volker Bräutigam, Stefan Johannes Bleicher, Hans Fagius, Søren Christian Westergård, Bernhard Klapprott and Michael Kapsner in Leipzig, Copenhagen and Weimar.
Since 2015 teacher for organ, organ improvisation and organ methodic at University for Music and Theater Leipzig, since 2009 Leipzig university organist. 2009-2015 Assistant organist at Thomaskirche Leipzig. Since 2021 castle organist Altenburg at the Trost organ from 1739 and artistic director of the International Thuringian Organ Academy.
Concerts beyond Germany in Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Poland, Russia, Georgia, Spain, Italy, Argentina, Australia, Mexico, Switzerland, Ucraine, USA. Active as an improviser in various contexts from liturgy to dance theatre, Free Jazz, electroacoustics, etc.
2018 Franck series in Leipzig and Giessen, since 2020 Bach complete series in Leipzig, since 2022 also in Altenburg. 2022, on the 30th anniversary of the death of Olivier Messiaen and John Cage complete series in Leipzig.
As composer: "verwandlung" for the large Silbermann organ of Freiberg Cathedral (2011), "Visionen" for choir, soprano and bass solo, two organs and four instruments (2018). "Deine Nacht - Passion nach Johannes" for Silbo-Piper, chamber ensemble, choir and soloists (libretto: Christian Lehnert, 2019/20). 2021 World premieres of "Seelenmusik" for four choir groups, soprano solo and organ and "TRIO" for three organs at Leipzig University Church.
2013 debut CD with Messiaen's "Méditations sur le Mystère de la Sainte Trinité", recorded Èglise de la Sainte Trinité in Paris. 2017 Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik for "Fortuna desperata" with organ music from Gothic and Renaissance at the Metzler organ of the University of Leipzig.
