Flores de Música for keyboard and harp is the only surviving work by the Portuguese composer Manuel Rodrigues Coelho and one of the most extraordinary musical monuments of the seventeenth century. Printed in Lisbon in 1620 and spanning more than 500 pages, it stands as one of the largest and most ambitious music publications of its time.
To celebrate the 400th anniversary of this remarkable work, a new three-volume scholarly edition has been released, forming the backbone of a major new recording project. This final chapter brings together cutting-edge research and inspired performance.
At the heart of the project is organist and editor João Vaz, joined by the outstanding Capella Patriarchal and Cornetas & Sacabuxas de Lisboa. Together, they offer a rich, powerful, and deeply expressive interpretation that brings Coelho’s masterpiece vividly back to life.
A landmark recording that crowns an ambitious journey into the heart of Portuguese musical heritage.
